Blog idea

Hey, Everyone.
We're off to see the Canyon, the wonderful Grand Can-yon.
I thought it would be fun to have a blog to get us organized for the Grand Canyon. This way we can see everyone's comments and interact a little easier than by reply all on email. What do you think?

  3. Have we decided to fly into Phoenix - meet there, rent a car, and drive to the Grand Canyon?

  4. I spent some more time on the website for the park today. You can view the dining possibilities - there is also a general store near our lodge. The Yavapi Lodge houses a cafeteria but there are other options in the park. The shuttle bus schedule shows three different routes (one for each day?). You can also view a Ranger schedule. There are at least two or three that might interest everyone - general geology (well, maybe not Jack), Raptors in Flight, and Condor Talk. I did print out the 16 page South Rim guide! I'll read it tonight and add tomorrow.

  5. A friend told me that the stars are something to stay up to see. There isn't as much ambient light as in cities, so the stars stand out.

  6. Do you think we will be able to stay up till 7 to see the stars? :-) We can toss rocks for Jack as we listen to the geology talk. I am definitely interested in all three. I would suggest binoculars if you have them. I have the added advantage to deduct all this since I am still teaching. I think I will bring my flip camera too.

  7. Flip camera is a good idea! That reminds me to bring my video - deducted last year. One of the suggestions in the guide book is to get up early enough to see the sunrise - the night event and the sunrise definitely have to be coordinated. Three full days of park will let us really enjoy the park. I can't find any reference to the glass walk out - could it be on the North Rim. The North Rim housing is closed at this time of year.

  8. The glass walk out is off the park but since we will have a car it is doable. I am in training for the hikes!
